Making a video
Cover Spin turns an image and audio into a spinning-record video in your browser. The editor processes your selected source files on your device. Saving to your shelf uploads the finished video, which includes your artwork and audio, to our storage services.
To help you finish saving after signing in, we may temporarily keep a rendered video and its title in your browser. Recovery is available for up to 24 hours; an expired draft is removed when the app next checks it. Clearing this site’s browser storage also removes the local draft.
Your account and shelf
Google sign-in shares basic account information, such as your email, name, profile image, and account identifier, with our authentication service. Cover Spin does not receive your Google password or request access to your Gmail, contacts, or Drive files.
We store your account, the profile details and social links you choose to add, any profile photo you upload, and your saved videos. Video records include titles, thumbnails, upload and processing status, file sizes, durations, and timestamps. We use this information to run your account, display your shelf, process uploads, and enforce storage limits.
Your shelf is private. Other users cannot browse it. Playback and downloads use temporary access links; anyone you give a valid link to may be able to use it until it expires. Videos start private. If you publish a video, anyone can find and watch it in Discover or on your public artist page. Making it private blocks new public access links; previously issued links can work for up to five minutes.
Discover and public participation
Publishing makes your artist name, handle, bio, social links, and profile photo public. Your Google account email stays private. You can also choose to make your artist profile public from Account. Making your profile private removes your videos from Discover.
Public videos display their title, genre, optional description, and like and comment counts. Comments and their public artist attribution are visible to other visitors. We store likes and comments to provide these features. Your personal liked-video list is visible only to you. Making a video private hides its public discussion and retains likes and comments for possible republication. Comment authors can edit or delete their comments; video owners can remove comments on their videos.
Services that help run Cover Spin
Vercel hosts the app, Supabase provides authentication and the database, Cloudflare R2 stores videos, thumbnails and profile photos, and Trigger.dev processes saved uploads and deletion jobs. These providers process information needed to deliver those features. Their infrastructure may process information outside your country.
We also use PostHog for product analytics and Upstash for usage counters. Analytics can include page visits, video-creation events, clip duration, output size, and browser or device information. Hosting and processing services may retain operational logs, such as request details, IP addresses, and errors, to operate and troubleshoot the service.
Cookies and browser storage
Authentication cookies keep you signed in. Browser storage supports rendered-video recovery, and analytics may use cookies or local storage to recognize visits. You can manage these through your browser settings. Blocking or clearing them can sign you out or remove a recoverable draft.
Keeping and deleting information
Saved videos remain in your shelf until you delete them or request their removal. Deleting a video queues removal of its stored video, thumbnail, and library record. Processing and retries mean this may not happen immediately. Service-provider logs and backups may follow separate retention schedules.
You can edit your profile, replace or remove your profile photo, and delete individual videos in the app. Profile photos are stored in private storage and served publicly when you opt into a public artist profile; replacing a photo overwrites the previous image. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and its associated information, contact Berkley Nahum at berkleynahum@gmail.com. We may need to verify that you own the account before acting on a request.
